To begin searching for properties, visit our House Catalogue page. This can be found on the top banner of the website, where all properties available on DoerUpper are listed. You can browse through the entire catalogue or use our filters to narrow down your search based on your specific requirements.
What filters can I use to find the right property?
Our search tool provides multiple filters to help you find exactly what you’re looking for. You can filter properties by:
Yes! You can use as many filters as you want but you don’t have to use them all. The filters available to you are: location, property type, storeys, bedrooms, living area and land area.
You can combine multiple filters to get more specific results. For example, you can search for a 3-bedroom house in a specific location with a minimum living area of 100 sqm. The more filters you apply, the more tailored your results will be.
If you’re not sure which filter to use, feel free to start with the Location filter and explore properties in your desired area. You can always refine your search further by adding more filters as you browse.
Our filters are at your convenience and easy to use but you don’t need to utilise them immediately if you don’t want to.
If your search doesn’t return many results, try expanding your criteria. You can do this by:
Filters are a good way to narrow down your search and set specific parameters. However, you don’t want to miss out on the right property by inserting filters that are a little too strict.
A Premium Listing is an exclusive feature for sellers who want to increase the visibility of their property on DoerUpper. For just £20 per month, their property will be highlighted to attract more potential buyers.
The properties that are listed as ‘premium listings’ will be shown higher on the catalogue than regular properties. This increases the exposure of the property which increases the likelihood of a sale.
Premium Listings offer several advantages, including:
Priority Exposure: Enjoy priority over regular listings, increasing the chances of faster enquiries and offers.
A membership costs £20 per month. This figure includes the first look at new properties before it goes on the catalogue for everyone to see. When selling a property, it will be classed as a ‘premium listing’.
It is a two-minute process to upgrade your property to a Premium Listing, simply log into your account, select the property you wish to upgrade, and follow the prompts to subscribe to the Premium Membership for £20 per month.
Yes! You can cancel your Premium Listing subscription anytime. Your listing will revert to a standard one at the end of your current billing cycle.
No, a Premium Listing increases the visibility of your property but does not influence its market value. It helps you reach a broader audience, leading to potentially faster sales without impacting any filters.
Yes, the Premium Listing option is available for all types of properties on DoerUpper, from residential homes to commercial properties or farmland.
Once you complete the subscription process, your Premium Listing will become active immediately and will start gaining enhanced visibility right away. There is no waiting time!
An Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) is a document that provides an energy efficiency rating for a property. It includes a summary of the property’s energy usage and typical energy costs, as well as recommendations for improving its efficiency. The rating is based on the performance of the building itself, heating systems, and other features like insulation. The rating is scored from A (most efficient) to G (least efficient).
As well as the A – G efficiency rating, an EPC shows you:
If you are selling or renting a property, it is a legal requirement to have a valid EPC. It helps potential buyers or tenants understand the energy performance and potential running costs of the property. Even if you’re not selling or renting, an EPC can help you identify ways to make your home more energy efficient and reduce energy bills.
We offer EPCs starting from £75 + VAT for all properties. This price is competitive and includes a thorough assessment by a certified energy assessor.
Typically, the assessment takes about 30-60 minutes, depending on the size and complexity of the property. After the inspection, you will receive the EPC within a few days.
An EPC is valid for 10 years. If your property has undergone any significant changes or improvements that could impact its energy efficiency, you may want to get a new EPC sooner.
Only accredited domestic energy assessors can issue an EPC. On DoerUpper, we ensure all our assessors are fully qualified and certified to provide EPCs that meet legal requirements.
An EPC includes:
To book an EPC, simply select the service when listing your property on DoerUpper. Our team will contact you to schedule an assessment with one of our accredited energy assessors.
Yes, there are various improvements you can make to your property to increase its energy efficiency, such as:
A lower EPC rating means your property is less energy-efficient, which could result in higher energy bills and environmental impact. If your property is rated F or G, you may be required to make improvements before it can be rented out. Our EPC report will include recommendations for improving your rating.
You can check if your property already has an EPC by searching the national EPC register using your property’s address. You will also have a physical certificate with your rating on.
At DoerUpper, we specialise in connecting sellers with the right buyers. Unlike traditional real estate agents who only sell renovated homes, we embrace properties “as-is” that are in need of renovation. We help you find the right buyer quickly. We attract a network of developers, investors, and DIY enthusiasts who are actively seeking properties that need a little more care. By targeting the right audience and streamlining the sales process, we can reduce the time your property sits on the market. Our platform simplifies everything, from the listing process to managing buyer enquiries, ensuring you get a quick and smooth sale.
Buying through DoerUpper offers unique opportunities for both first-time buyers and experienced investors. Our site sells a variety of different properties from furbished houses that are ready for occupancy to properties that need some care and attention to reach its full potential. This means that you’re likely to find great deals whatever you’re looking for.
We carefully curate listings to ensure you’re getting properties with real potential, whether you’re looking to buy and sell for profit or create your dream home.
Absolutely! One of the key benefits of selling through DoerUpper is that we don’t just focus on properties that are ready for occupancy, you can also find the properties that need a little care and attention so you don’t need to worry about making costly repairs or upgrades before listing. Our buyers are looking for homes and projects with the potential to add value through their own renovation efforts. Selling “as-is” means you save time and money while reaching the right audience. Plus, we guide you through the entire process, from listing your property to closing the sale, making it easy and hassle-free.
The timeline for selling a property through DoerUpper can vary. Our specialised approach often results in quicker sales compared to traditional methods. Once your property is listed, it typically takes a few weeks to a few months to find the right buyer, depending on the condition, location and price of the home. We work closely with you to ensure the process is as fast and efficient as possible, managing everything from the listing to closing the sale.
DoerUpper buyers are typically looking for properties with untapped potential, so homes in need of renovation are ideal. This includes anything from minor cosmetic updates to complete renovations. Buyers on DoerUpper are eager to find opportunities where they can add value, whether it’s a first-time buyer wanting a project home or an experienced investor looking for a quick flip. If your property needs work, it’s a perfect fit for DoerUpper.
No, staging is not necessary when selling your property through DoerUpper. Our buyers are typically looking for homes that need renovation, so they understand and expect properties in various conditions. While staging can help in traditional sales, it’s not as crucial for ‘fixer-uppers’ where buyers are more interested in the potential of the property rather than its current appearance. Instead of staging, we focus on providing accurate descriptions and highlighting the key areas where buyers can add value through renovations. Our team will help ensure your listing is attractive without the need for costly preparations.
The main difference between selling through DoerUpper and a traditional real estate agent is our focus on properties that need work. While a traditional agent may prioritise fully renovated homes to attract a broader audience, we target buyers specifically looking for renovation projects. This means you won’t need to invest time or money in repairs or upgrades to make your property ‘market-ready’. Additionally, our platform connects you directly with a community of motivated buyers, often speeding up the sales process. We handle everything from listing to closing, making it a stress-free and efficient way to sell your fixer-upper.
Buying a fixer-upper can offer great value and the opportunity to create a home that’s truly your own. Properties needing renovations are often priced lower, allowing you to customise the space to your liking while increasing its value. Whether you’re an investor looking for a profitable project or a first-time buyer wanting to get on the property ladder, these homes offer endless possibilities. Fixer-uppers on our site range from one storey properties to multi-storey detached properties.
Of course! At Doerupper, we specialise in selling homes that need both high and low maintenance. Whether your property requires a complete overhaul or just a few minor repairs, we connect you with buyers looking for projects of all sizes. No matter the condition of your home, we’re here to help you find the right buyer as quickly as possible.
Doerupper features a wide range of properties, from homes requiring only light cosmetic updates to those in need of extensive repairs or full renovations. Whether you’re looking for a DIY project or a more ambitious renovation, we offer a variety of options for buyers with different levels of experience and investment goals.
When buying a fixer-upper, it’s important to consider the scope of the work required and ensure it fits within your budget and skill level. Think about the cost of renovations, the time commitment, and whether you’ll need to hire professionals to undertake certain tasks. It can also be helpful to get a thorough home inspection to understand the extent of any repairs. Our platform provides detailed property information to help you make an informed decision.
No, at Doerupper we believe in total transparency. Our fee structure is straightforward, with no hidden costs. We charge a flat fee for sellers to list their property, and there are no additional charges unless you choose our membership service. Buyers don’t pay any fees to browse or purchase properties through our platform. We aim to keep costs low and fair for everyone involved.
At DoerUpper, our valuation process is designed to be fast and straightforward. First, we’ll gather essential details about your property, such as its condition, location, and renovation needs. One of our experienced property assessors will then evaluate your home, taking into account its potential for improvement and current market trends. You’ll receive a detailed valuation report quickly, helping you connect with buyers who are eager to invest in properties like yours.
It is a legal requirement that a valuation is carried out before it goes on the market. Several key factors influence the value of a property in need of repair. These include its location, the extent of maintenance required (whether high or low), the potential for renovations, and the current market demand for similar properties. At DoerUpper, we understand that even properties needing substantial work can offer immense value to the right buyer, and our in-house valuations reflect that potential.
We understand and appreciate the importance of speed in selling properties, especially those that need renovation. This is why we aim to complete the valuation within 96 hours of your request. Once our assessment is done, you’ll receive your valuation report within 1-3 business days. This helps you get your property listed and in front of potential buyers as soon as possible.
You don’t need to worry about making your property look perfect. After all, we recognise that not all properties are furnished and ready for someone to move in, some need a little work and others need months of attention. However, there are a few things you can do to help us provide the most accurate valuation possible. Clear any clutter that might obstruct the view of key areas and let us know about any major issues upfront.
An asbestos survey is a thorough inspection of a property to identify any materials containing asbestos. If your property was built before the year 2000, it may contain asbestos, which can be harmful when disturbed. As a seller, ensuring your property is free of asbestos gives buyers peace of mind, and as a buyer, it ensures the home is safe for renovations. At DoerUpper, we aim to facilitate quick and transparent property transactions, so having an asbestos survey done helps avoid future complications and abides.
Asbestos is most commonly found in older homes, particularly in roofing, insulation, and floor tiles. However, it’s hard to tell just by looking at materials. That’s why an asbestos survey is recommended if your property is over 20 years old. If you’re buying or selling through DoerUpper, we highly encourage you to have this cheque done to ensure a smooth and safe transaction for everyone involved.
Yes, you can still sell a property even if asbestos is found. What’s important is to be transparent with potential buyers. At DoerUpper, our goal is to connect the right buyers with the right properties quickly and efficiently. Providing upfront information about asbestos in the property helps buyers make informed decisions and avoids delays later in the process. Buyers may request that asbestos be removed or choose to handle it post-purchase.
In the UK, it’s not always mandatory to have an asbestos survey before selling a property, but it is highly recommended for homes built before 2000. Buyers may ask for one as part of their due diligence, and having it done upfront can speed up the sale. At DoerUpper, we value transparency and believe that providing this information upfront helps connect sellers with serious buyers quickly.
It’s not the end of the world. Asbestos can be safely removed by licensed professionals before selling your property or, in many cases, it can be managed effectively. If asbestos is found, the risk will be assessed and a management plan will be designed and put in place. As long as the plan is followed then there is no need to worry, it is completely safe. Asbestos is only harmful when disturbed.
Asbestos only poses a risk when disturbed, releasing fibres into the air that can be harmful if inhaled. If asbestos is present but undisturbed, it is not an immediate issue. However, buyers should be aware that any renovations or demolition work could increase the risk. We help buyers make informed decisions, so if asbestos is found by our surveyors, we recommend hiring professionals to safely manage or remove it before any major work is done.
